At Pop’s Pups, we love working with your pets and want the opportunity to truly connect with them. Since dogs have shorter life spans, their perspective of time is different; 6 weeks to a dog is like 8 months to a human being. To truly bond with the dogs, we need to see them more frequently. We want to see most dogs on a 6-8 week schedule.
Groomers often observe changes in your dog’s health and well-being that can help you care for your dog effectively. Dogs that are groomed frequently are more comfortable with the experience, less matted, and are overall happier. Dogs that are in matted or impacted condition can cause skin issues such as irritation, hot spots, and in severe cases, hematomas; matted and impacted conditions not only cause strain on your dog’s body, but on the groomers’ bodies as well. Regular grooming also lets you maintain cute styles and longer hair.
Online or phone appointment reservations will require $30 deposit.
We understand that schedules can change, but to ensure smooth operations at Pop’s Pups Grooming,we have the following cancellation policy:
Our Groomers use a gentle and loving approach in handling our clients, therefore our appointments are scheduled so that each four-legged client receives attentive care in a soothing and calm environment. Your grooming appointment is a reservation for services and for the individualized attention we provide each pet. We can only take a limited number of appointments each day. A missed appointment is a loss of income to a small business and our groomers.
Please inform us of any behavior-modifying medications your dog is on before their grooming appointment. We strongly suggest you wait a minimum 48 hours after your dog has had any shots and 1 week for any dental procedures because they will be sore and need to rest. We require a minimum of 2 WEEKS after any spay or neuter appointments to groom your pet.
We are only able to perform the grooming services for your pet in the time allotted for your scheduled appointment. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late to your scheduled appointment, we may not be able to perform your scheduled grooming services and you may need to reschedule your appointment so that we can stay on schedule with our other clients. If time allows, an additional fee may apply in order to complete a full groom.
At the time you drop off your pet, we will be able to give you an approximate time for pick up. We will text you as soon as your pet is finished. Please let us know if you are not able to pickup your pet within 30 minutes after you are notified. If you are late (such as after business hours), an additional fee will be added to accommodate the time spent caring for and keeping your pet comfortable until you arrive. Late Pick-up Fees are as follows: $5 for every 10 minutes after a 15-minute grace period after closing hours. If a pet client is left at the store after closing, the pet can be left in the grooming area overnight. If the owner picks up their pet the next day, they will be charged a $100 overnight fee.
In order to keep a sanitary work environment, we ask that you walk your dog to relieve themselves prior to your appointment. A clean-up fee of $20 may apply if it is a repetitive problem.
We ask that you please do not pick up your dog before receiving a text or call from us. Your pet will be upset and/or excitable if they see you before they are finished and it may result in an unfinished groom.
Pets groomed on a regular basis adjust and cooperate with routine. Pets that are not groomed every 6 to 8 weeks may become matted. Matting occurs from lack of grooming, coat overgrowth, not being brushed routinely, or coat not being combed through prior to getting wet. Additional fees apply for de-matting a pet. When matting is severe and/or close to the skin the only humane way to remove the mats is to clip the coat off to the skin line. In some cases where the matting is not severe and only covers a small area, we can remove them by splitting, thinning, and then brushing them out, 15 minutes of brushing comes with every groom. There is a fee of $15 every 15 minutes to de-mat your pet after the first 15-minute allotted time. Severe matting may require an hour or more. Matted coats are hard on our equipment and in most cases require two haircuts, the first to remove the matted coat prior to bathing and a second to even up the coat after bathing. We do our best to ensure your pets’ skin is cared for, but we are not responsible for health conditions that may be revealed by removing a matted coat such as sores.
We do not require proof of vaccinations unless our staff is bitten by your pet. Vaccination protocol is up to the owner and their veterinarian; even some veterinarians question how often to vaccinate, therefore we leave it up to each individual owner. As long as you are comfortable with your pet’s level of protection, so are we.
Wherever there is animal life in mountains of WNC, there will also most likely be fleas. Let’s face it; fleas and a flea extermination plan are an essential part of pet ownership. They can get them by just walking out your front door.
When you arrive for your grooming appointment, sometimes it is difficult to tell if there are fleas present until we get the animal wet. We will always then do a flea bath with flea shampoo which will result in an additional charge of $10. This only kills the fleas that are currently on the pet and does not protect them from fleas once they get home. It is best to wait 2-3 days after their grooming to put liquid flea medication on the skin if that is the type you use.
